Counter Uncrewed Aerial Systems (CUAS) Operations - MC006
Overview
Course duration: 4 hours
This course provides a practical understanding of Counter-Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (C-UAS), focusing on the detection, identification, and neutralisation of unauthorised or hostile drones.
The Counter UAS mini course covers various aspects of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) operations and countermeasures. It begins with an overview of UAS detection methods and the importance of understanding UAS vulnerabilities in different environments. The course then delves into UAS threat assessment, highlighting the need for effective detection and counter-detection technologies. It discusses various detection technologies, including radar, Lidar, audio, electro-optical systems, and electronic support measures. The course also emphasises the importance of integrating these technologies into a comprehensive Counter-UAS (CUAS) network to enhance overall effectiveness.
The CUAS effector section focuses on the methods used to deter, deny or neutralise UAS threats. It outlines the stages of the CUAS Protection/Kill Chain, which include Find, Fix, Track, Target, Engage, and Assess stages. The course discusses both kinetic and non-kinetic countermeasures, such as using Electronic Warfare means, interceptors, projectiles, and other capabilities to disable or destroy UAS. It also highlights the importance of accurate threat detection and identification to enable quick reactive measures and the need to avoid collateral damage.
Intended Audience
This course is suitable for personnel that require an awareness of methods for detection, deterrence, denial or neutralisation of UAS threats. It relies on pre-existing basic awareness of UAS types and subsystems.
